From February-May 2015 I co-directed and co-shot a documentary film in Hyderabad, India about an orphanage called Spandana Society.
Spandana Society is a remarkable NGO based in India, which shelters, educates, and transforms the lives of orphans, street children, and other disadvantaged youth in Hyderabad. This short documentary tells the stories of three of the children under Spandana's care - Ranga, a son of a widowed construction laborer; Kishore, a former child beggar from Ananthapur; and Annie, a young woman who lost both her parents at age 17. We hope this documentary brings the story of Spandana to the world - a story of compassion, strength, "reaching out" (the meaning of the word Spandana), and of the power of community. Check out Spandana's website to learn more about it and ways to get involved: www.spandanasociety.in
